Day 1 Air Port – Sigiriya : About 4.5 Hours Drive Met on arrival and pick up at Colombo air port, leave for Sigiriya. En-route visit Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. Optional lunch at Dambulla visit Dambulla Rock Cave Temple. Dambulla rock temple was constructed by king Walagambahu in the 1st century B.C. and it is a World Heritage Site. It is the most impressive of Sri Lanka's cave temples. The complex of five caves with over 2000 sq. metres of painted walls and ceilings is the largest area of paintings found in the world. It contains over 150 images of the Buddha of which the largest is the colossal figure of the Buddha carved out of rock and spanning 14 metres Dinner and Over night stay at Sigiriya Day 2 Sigiriya - Polonnaruwa : About 40 Minutes Drive After breakfast leave for visit Sigiriya Rock Fortress. Sigiriya Rock Fortress: This rock of the 5th century AD was a monastery before King Kasyapa built his kingdom. En-route visit Blow Hole at Kudawella. Optional lunch at Mirissa relax and enjoy with beach activities in Mirissa. Hummanaya is a natural blowhole, and caused when sea water rushes through a submerged cavern and is pushed upwards. The sea water flows underneath the shore, and then comes out of this hole due to pressure. The water fountain created by the geological feature shoots up every couple of minutes, depending on the nature of the sea, with the spray often reaching as high as 25 m (82 ft) to 30 m (98 ft).This site has now been developed as a tourist attraction, with a small visitors' information centre on marine life and a viewing platform. Next day early morning leave for Whales and Dolphin watching… Dinner & Overnight stay at Mirissa Day 8 Yala - Mirissa : About 2.5 Hours Drive Early morning leave for Whales watching in Mirissa. Optional lunch at Mirissa possible to enjoy with many sea activities or relax at your beach resort. Whales Watching : The ever smiling, mischievous dolphins will put on a show while some of the oldest and the largest sea creatures, the humpback and the blue whales, will nonchalantly glide past you, when you embark on a whale/ dolphin watching excursion off the Southern, Eastern or the West coast of Sri Lanka. The ideal locations for whale watching would be Dondra Point (accessible from Galle, Hikkaduwa and Mirissa) and Trincomalee while the sea off Kalpitiya teems with an abundance of dolphins. Colombo is like many capital cities in developing countries as fast as changing its face. Almost overnight, skyscrapers arise from where old buildings once stood. Yet in some parts, the old world beauty is being sustained. For example, there is a 100-year-old clock tower and several British built colonial buildings. Other places of interest are the Pettah bazaar - where one can shop for bargain, a Hindu and a Buddhist temple, residential areas where you find the stately homes of the rich, the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) - an outright gift to Sri Lanka from the People's Republic of China. We leave from Colombo around 8.00 pm for departure flight ( 40 minutes drive from Colombo to Air Port ) As all good things must come to an end, your chauffeur guide with comfortable take you back to the international airport for a safe return journey.
